About Diablo 5
Diablo V is the next main entry in Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo series, announced at BlizzCon 2026 with a target release of spring 2029. This time the story begins after Diablo has already won. The heroes of the past have failed, Sanctuary has fallen, and the Lord of Terror rules from Westmarch with his sights set on the Heavens. You play the Heir to Westmarch, fighting across a land that Diablo is actively reshaping.
Westmarch no longer has safe towns. Instead you travel with a caravan of merchants, craftspeople, companions and survivors you recruit along the way, and it can only move into areas you have already made safe. The open world changes between sessions, and itemization draws on Diablo II, bringing back gear sets, Runes and Runewords. The first three classes revealed are the returning Demon Hunter and Monk and the new Plague Knight, a heavily armored warrior who spreads disease and then consumes it for power. Blizzard plans regular development updates starting in 2027, and platforms have not been announced.
